My older sister and I didn't get along very much as kids, but Sailor Moon was one of those shows we would always watch together. (Which later transitioned to Buffy and Daria, hahaha)
I think the genre (Magical Girls) has spawned some great shows since (Cardcaptor Sakura, or more recently Madoka Magica) but there's no doubt to me that Sailor Moon did for Shoujos what DBZ did for Shonens. I hope the new Crystal series goes well, despite the budgetary shortcomings that people are posting about on tumblr.
